2nd Annual New York Rainbow Book Fair

26 Mar

Looking for something to do this Saturday? Like books? Like LGBT folks?

Then swing by the 2nd Annual New York Rainbow Book Fair, the largest LGBT book event in America. The fair, which is free and open to the public, will be held at CUNY’s Center for Gay and Lesbian Studies from 11 AM-5:30 PM tomorrow in the concourse level of the Altman Building (365 5th Ave at 34th St). The fair’s press release promises “8,000 square feet of exhibitions, events, mingling, and meeting authors and readers like yourself,” and will feature performances, panels, and the chance to read and buy LGBT literature of all genres and styles at great prices.

If you can make it, be sure to check out the Poet’s Salon, an all-day marathon of poetry readings and a part of the Come Hear LGBTQ reading series hosted by Nathaniel A. Siegel and Regie Cabico. There will be a ton of great poets there, small groups of whom will be reading every half hour (I’ll be reading at 12:30 pm along with David Bergman, Saeed Jones, Richard Tayson, Ana Bozecevic, Amy King, Debrah Morkun and Gregory Laynor). The Salon will also feature poems from the anthology Persistent Voices: Poetry by Writers Lost to AIDS, edited by Philip Clark and David Groff (the book is great and definitely worth checking out).

Hope to see you there!
