GOP Lawmakers Want to Exclude Gay Students From Anti-Bullying Bill
State Reps. Jason Schultz and Matt Windschitl have introduced a bill that would remove protections for LGBT students from Iowa’s 2007 anti-bullying law.

This is particularly troubling after this November survey revealed that LGBT students in Iowa still feel unsafe at school, reporting an increase in the amount of physical violence in their lives in spite of a decrease in verbal attacks.

On a happier note, San Francisco’s school board unanimously agreed to fund a $120,000 support program for LGBT youth issues.

We kind of already knew this, but Meghan McCain and her mom are pro-gay marriage on AfterEllen.

The Advocate gets its latest covergirl, Portia de Rossi, to open up about her personal life in The Great de Rossi. Someone else should probably take over Clickage before I start running nothing but stories on pretty blonde girls I think are cute (and progressive!).

Why is the Gay Love Story Slighted in “Valentine’s Day” Ads?

A new poll by Quinnipiac shows that most Americans (57-36) believe that gays should be allowed to serve openly in the military. Interestingly, though, 54% of those polled believed “gays in the military should face restrictions on exhibiting their sexual orientation on the job.”

It’s All About What’s Best for the Children, People, Please Think of the Children!
Dan Savage’s take on Florida’s recent adoption controversy is one of the more interesting and thorough commentaries out there. If you haven’t been keeping up with the story (which takes root in the clash between Florida’s policy that bans gay adoption but allows gay and lesbian couples to serve as foster parents).

The Naked Cop: David Mixner on gay (former) Florida police officer Mike Verdugo, who was fired after ten years of service after a “soft porn” he made nearly two decades ago surfaced.

Anglican Church Leader Issues ‘Pofound Apology ‘ to Gays
This from the man who proposed a “two-tiered” system of compromise within the church that would allow some (some gay) dioceses to “less than fully participating status.” Pretty separate and not even that equal.
